creating planes

By catia programmer

  1. Create an offset plane: select an existing plane, and enter an offset value.
  2. Create a parallel plane through a point: select an existing plane and point .The resulting plane is parallel to the reference plane and passes through the point.
  3. Create a plane at an angle : select an existing plane and rotation axis ,then enter an angle value
  4. Create a plane through three point: select any three point
  5. Create a plane through two lines: select two lines
  6. Create a plane through a point and line: select any point and line
  7. Create a plane through a planer curve : select any planar curve
  8. Create a plane normal to a curve: select any curve and point
  9. Create a plane based on it's equation: key in the values for the Ax+Bu+Cz=D equation.
  10. Create a mean plane through several points: select any three ,or more points

Creating lines

By catia programmer

1) Create lines between two points : Select two points

2)Create lines based on a point and direction : Select a point and a line ,then specify the start and end point of the line.

3)Create lines at an angle or normal to a curve : Select a curve and its support, a point on the curve, then speify the angle value ,the start and end points of the line.

4)create lines tangent to a curve : Select a curve and reference point, then specify the start and end point of the line.

5)Create lines normal to a surface : Select a surface and refrence point, then specify the start and end ponits of the line.

6)Create lines normal to a surface : Select a surface and a reference point ,then specify the start and end points of the line.

Fillets

By catia programmer

A Fillet is a curved face of a constant or variable radius that is tangent to, and that joins, two surfaces.

Edge Fillets:-Smooth transitional surface between two adjacent faces

Face-Face Fillet:- Used when there is no intersection between the faces or when there are more than two sharp edges between that faces

Variables Radius Fillets:-Curved surfaces defined according to variable radius.

Tritangent Fillets:- Involves that removal of one of the three faces selected.

Draft Angle

By catia programmer

Draft are angled faces defined on molded parts to make them easier to remove from molds.

The characteristic elements are :

Pulling direction :- This direction corresponds to the reference from which the draft faces are defined.

Draft angle:- This is the angle that the draft faces makes with the pulling direction .This angle may be defined for each face.

Parting element:-This plane, face or surface cuts the part in two and each portion is drafted according to its previously defined direction.

Neutral element:-This element defines a neutral curve on which the drafted face will lie.this element will remain the same during the draft. The neutral element and parting element may be the same element .

Shaft

By catia programmer

A shaft is a basic obtained from the revolution of 2d profile around an axis .The axix and the profile must be created in the same sketch.

A hole is removing circular material all at once, from an exixting feature. It's lenght can be defined by dimensions or with respect to other 3D elements.various Shape of standard holes can be created>these holes are:

Counterborad hole: The counterbore diameter must be greater than the hole diameter and the hole depth must be greater than the counterbore depth.

Countersunk hole: The contersink diameter must be greater than the hole diatere and the countersink angle must be greater tan 0 and less than 180.

Counterdrilled Hole: The counter diameter must be greater than the hole diamtere ,the hole depth must be greater than the counter drill depth and the counterdrill angle must be greater than 0 and less than 180 degress.

Pocket

By catia programmer

Creating a pocket consisits in extruding a profile and removing the material resulting from the extrusion .Catia Lets you choose the limits of creation as well as the direction of extruction.

Creating a pocket consists in extruding a profile and removing the material resulting from the extrusion. The pocket defination dialog box is displayed below and catia previews a pocket .

Thin solids are feature resulting from adding .Thickness to both sides of pad's profile.

Pads

By catia programmer

1) Pads.

2)Pockets.

3)Thin Solids.

4)Shafts

5) Features

6)Holes

A pad is a basic solid which is extruded from a 2D Profile. It is one of the first features that can be created when starting a new part.

Creating a pad means extruding a profile in one or two directions..................

The pad desfination dialog Box appears and Catia Priviews that pad to be created.

Part Design

By catia programmer

Part Design application makes it possible to design precise #d mechanical parts with intuitive and fexible user interface, from sketching in an assembly context to iteractive detailed design.

Setting up sketcher workbench

By catia programmer

Modifying Unit :
Tools>options>Units from the menu bar .
You can set the units for length, angle, time, mass and so on,using the option in the unit dialogue box.

Modifying the grid setting :
Tools>options>mechanical design> sketcher from the menu bar.
You can change the value of graduation and primary spacing. The spacing between two dotted line is called graduation ,while the spacing between the two continuous black line is called primary spacing.
